Clexit - Josh 381

At 'The London Confrence' there was also discussion about 'Clexit' - like Brexit but a 'Climate Exit' - a new initiative by Viv Forbes - read about it here. I drew some cartoon notes along with those below but thought it was worth its own post.

Figueres is back on the money trail, with a new, very well funded, propaganda outfit:

http://www.climatechangenews.com/2016/09/28/london-calling-figueres-dives-back-into-climate-after-un-bid/

Fresh from quitting what is becoming an increasingly brutal race to replace Ban Ki-moon as UN secretary general, Christiana Figueres is back with a new project: Mission 2020.

City leaders, bankers and the burgeoning climate philanthropy sector can expect calls in the coming weeks and months as the Costa Rican gets to work.

“By 2020 we have to bend the [emissions] curve and by 2020 we have to have a critical level of support for developing countries,” she tells Climate Home.

Staffed with former UN colleagues and boasting Newton Investment Management chief executive Helena Morrissey as one of five advisory board members, Mission 2020 will be based in London.

After the Brexit referendum and with UK climate and energy policy in a state of flux it seems a curious choice for an HQ, but Figueres cites the city’s rich seam of climate policy and finance expertise.

Last week she was spotted talking to new UK climate minister Nick Hurd and longtime climate advocate Kate Hampton, CEO of the Mayfair-based CIFF, which is valued at £2 billion.

This does not bode well:

So Dork has Ireland began importing Shale Gas from the U S or is it getting third party via Scotland.

Talking Shale Dellingpole has written in The Sun about Barry Gardiner at the dick head Labour Party Conferance banning Fracking in the U.K.

Dellers if we want Fracking to take off in the UK we got to get Theresa May to introduce U K personal mineral rights.Otherwise U.K. Fracking will be on Compulsary Purchased land behind Razor Wire Fences besieged by Protestors and rightfully angry locals.

Dellingpole tell the Editor of the Sun to tell Murdock if he wants U K Shale then push U K Personal Mineral Rights , Buy off the NIMBYs and direct Shale cash bonanza injection into the local economy. The Buckinghamshire Hillbillies.

Friends! For those of you who may, tragically, have missed Jeremy's literally classic speech yesterday, I have good news for you! Although I missed it too, for reasons I explain in the Blog, this has not in any way been an impediment to my devoting a Blog to it.

Simply titled "A Full, Comprehensive And Totally Objective Review Of Jeremy’s Literally Spell-Binding Speech To The Labour Conference, Which Was Literally A Turning-Point In Labour’s Fortunes, Friends!", it is now literally available, literally here:

PS: Thanks to Friend *** (you know who you are) for your continuing concern ...

Nice of you to care Russell. There's just not a lot to say at the moment because for most, the issue of AGW is dead. Governments are regretting renewables. The Americans don't want to pay more than a few dollars a week towards it. It's still the least important issue in any list of concerns.

Christiana Figueres? She of the Oscar winning waterworks, cries at the drop of a hat, she's excellent at it! Why haven't Hollywood awarded her something?

Russel Trump L A Times puts Trump six points ahead Christine Figueres now really has got something to cry about

Trump v Hilary at the Presidential debate

Trump " terrorism and nuclear weapons the biggest threat to worlld NOT global warming "

Hilary makes no reply.

Wait till "daddy" spouts off about south Australia Power Blackouts . A taste of life under an another Clinton regime.

Hilary voting Miss (piggy) Universe Alicia Machado not only a Drug Cartel Leaders moll but also drove the boyfriends getaway car in an attempted "drive by" on a Venuzuelan federal Judge.
Amazing who the U S state departtment give U S citizenship to these days.

Mean while Iraqi troops backed by U S forces (no mention of numbers or operations) ready to retake the Northern Iraqi city of Mosul from I S . The Obama Clinton Whitehorse desparete bid to stop the unrelenting onslaught of Trump.

What a magnanimous suggestion: - Dellingpole banned scientists from commenting at Breitbart last year

Wow that Breitbart software must be clever if it can detect whether the person trying to comment is a scientist.

@James
I would like to see a full cycle anylasis of this new North Atlantic trade.
We know that finance in cooperation with industrial monopoly can create any system no matter how wasteful (Uk biomass) so why not Lng?

Also unlike Qatar the US has a real economic hinterland beyond the port of exit.
The dynamics are very different.

Finance always favours complexity over simplicity .
Over and above its price inflation characteristics ( needed to sustain their debt claims on us) it also increase dependency on people and former nations as redundancy is lost.

I am now becoming convinced that a diesel generator or two in each Irish market town would be far preferable to the current cost structure inbedded into the soil by the centralised Irish electricity supply board experiment post "independence "

Oct 2, 2016 at 12:02 PM | Unregistered CommenterThe Dork of Cork

The STOR diesel generators are again missing from the DUKES 2016 list of electricity plant providers.
They are the Bermuda triangle of the Uk electricity energy sector.
Only diesel that I can see listed resides on the Scottish Islands.

Dork, if the wind parasites are ejected from the Irish economic scene, and the windmills removed from the Irish scenery, things can sort themselves out pretty well. Centralized dependable power, at this stage of technology, is the only way that makes sense. If you are actually looking for sensibility.

Oct 3, 2016 at 1:16 PM | Unregistered Commenterhunter

@Hunter.
If you take time to read the UKs red book (trade and money flows)
You will come across quite fantastic numbers.
The UKs net investment position ( 2014) with the
EU 28: minus 294 billion Sterling ( rounded to nearest bullion)
The Eu is a debtor sanctum.
However Ireland forms the bulk of these flows.
A quite incredible minus £192 billion section of this tasty cake.
It's more then windmills baby.....

As I have said Ireland has been a creature of the city since at least Tudor times.

It's the canary in the scarcity mine.

Oct 3, 2016 at 2:49 PM | Unregistered CommenterThe Dork of Cork

Centralized power imposes costs.
The biggest physical cost is maintaince of the (vast) distribution system.
If you have a population spread in and around market towns and their hinterlands then it's best to operate in 20MW reliable units do you not think?

Now of course STOR currently operates in a national grid system but could it easily be converted to local use?
I am not a engineer but suspect it easily could.

Oct 3, 2016 at 3:19 PM | Unregistered CommenterThe Dork of Cork

So centralization especially during the post Masstricht phase has failed in a spectacular fashion for the natives of Ireland.
The monster road building programme of the 90s now needs ever growing maintaince, subtracting from consumption.
The solution proposed by the monopolists of Dublin and London is to redirect the world's refugees into these under capacity Industrial ring roads.
They profess concern for these poor people but it is merely a repeat of the Liverpool and Manchester settlement of 19th century Northern England.
They see people as conduits for their failed hamster wheel experiments.
To listen to these guys is painful beyond words.
Brian Lucy who works for the London / Dublin establishment was on state radio professing the typical false humanist concern for these people.
In not much more then a few breaths he then talks about empty housing units to be filled by human units.
Humanists do not engage in such gross materialism.

This has lead to a total failure of Irish society as end use energy per capita consumption implodes.
Ireland has now become a curious mixture of Detroit and Bangladesh.
Crotty who did everything in his power to resist the euro corporatists warned that given the structure of Irish capitalism ( geared for mercantile export) any increase in population would result in catastrophic declines of living standards.
His warnings unfortunatly fell on deaf ears, primarily as a result of concentrated state suppression.

@Hunter
You will love this.
The costs of scale?

However I think the article is incorrect.
The flow of energy between the UK and Ireland is pitifully small as both ( unlike France) are electricity deficit countries.
Only a connection between a hydro or nuclear rich country can work. and only for residents in the deficit country
This is merely excuse my a monopoly to increase costs.
Imports and exports between these islands have little physical economy consequence.

Paul , software has nothing to do with it -
Dellers is smart enough to know whose scientific questions he never wants to
take again- ( starting with Paul Nurse), and can hit his block button at will.

Oct 4, 2016 at 9:39 AM | Unregistered CommenterRussell

We can now see that the so called dash for gas was the final phase of the capitalistic efficiency drive. (essentially a costly fuel substitution exercise designed to feed the car consumer credit nexus)

It's now in the process of total breakdown.

The Dublin Castle folks are in full panic mode.

Now that little auld Ireland has joined the dodos we can look back at perhaps the greatest and certainly most prophetic exchange in our little parliament.

A one James Dillion warning of impending catastrophic consequences as a result of the banks monopoly of credit.
This is what real conservatism looks like.
