We all rightly slag of Russell Brand but what if the Skeptic Movement created its own Political Party.
Who would put them self up as an Independent Climate Skeptic Political Party candidate .

Don't expect to win and don't expect to keep your deposit but as least get the cause down on a ballot paper and get it out there.Finally get on the BBC and get to go toe to toe with the Greens

I was wondering earlier this morning how difficult it would be to establish the sort of rapid response unit that Ward appears to be. Not specifically to rebut the climateers — there are plenty (and increasingly so) of competent scientists doing that — but to take on the anti-science of the likes of Greenpeace.
We've seen the point made on various threads in recent days that they get away with murder (not literally yet, as far as we know ,though their allies in animal "rights" movement have been known to come pretty close) because everyone believes in the "goodness" and "rightness" of what they are doing, as did many of us in our more callow days. They are still getting pretty much of a free pass from the media and we know that Greenpeace and FoE and even the assorted anti-fracking groups are an immediate go-to for the BBC and other outlets every time any new question is raised about anything environmental thereby guaranteeing that the public will certainly not get a balanced view and probably won't hear the truth since we know that mendacity — all right, outright lying — about the scientific or technical aspects of anything environmental is pretty much their modus operandi.
This is to a great extent because there is no-one with any profile in a position to say to the media that what their spokespeople are saying is simply not true. GM crops and fracking are cases in point but they are not the only ones.
I'm getting beyond the stage of worrying about the climateers. Mother Nature will look after their problems (or she won't) but meantime the eco-luddites are the ones heading us towards the tipping point of increased impoverishment, dependency on the likes of Russia for gas supplies (and that gets more dicey by the day), and a range of other unpleasant things that they and their useful idiots can't see coming.
I no longer believe that the environmental NGOs (and most certainly not the various anti-fracking groups) any longer care much one way or the other about CO2 — if they did they would be pushing for nuclear, nuclear research and shale gas as an interim. Their target is either energy itself or energy security. If the former then they are deliberately misleading the public about the future. The latter, of course, ought to be something for MI5 to be looking into!

I am all in favour of people standing on an climate sceptic ticket. Unfortunately, UKIP stopped operating democratically in Scotland (I think unless we have democracy we are screwed so I left them). So I tried to join the anti-wind political party which formed when I was in UKIP - only to find it folded a few weeks earlier.
Finally I tried to raise the interest in me standing for which I needed £1000 (the cost of even the most basic campaign of lost deposit + cost of leaflets). A few people kindly sent money, but not nearly enough.
My current plan is to see if anyone else is willing to stand otherwise I will get some leaflets printed and push them through doors in my local area myself - although:

It's not particularly difficult, it just takes time and effort on the part of a suitable group of people. A 'profile' helps, but is not essential if you are able to provide value and accessibility.

Mike Jackson, Cumbrian Lad, I believe that Jeremy Grantham is looking for a rapid response team to clear up the mess Bob Ward leaves in his smear trail.
The successful applicants are likely to be mature ladies, used to coping with at least three children aged under five. A team of three will be required to provide 24 hour cover, with some doubling up, to cover press conferences etc.

Leaving warmists an exit strategy
- I saw there was a bit of sneering at Mann's qualifications; I am worried that, that further alienates. Warmists seem to be stuck in a cycle of desperately seeking confirmation, and so painting themselves into a corner by championing unsupportable papers, then there is a habit of Circling the Wagons saying "don't listen to that it comes from the evil deniers".
- But the point is almost every skeptic was a true-believer before, so we have to leave the door open for warmists to come over to the side of sanity and be respected cos it's not an easy thing to do.
