Golf Charlie , perhaps Pachauri should discuss his case Heartland Institute Science Director Jay Lehr PhD., who has much practical experience in these matters.

Sadly, the culture of corruption is growing like a cancer in all societies. So many seem unable to see that it is corruption that hinders progress – all you have to do is look at those countries where it is already deep-rooted (Zimbabwe, perhaps, or Nigeria?). In the days when an Englishman’s word was his bond, the UK managed to lead the world; now, as corruption grows – ably led by our own parliament – the UK is sinking into a morass of its own making. I am not sure if the US is ahead of us or lagging behind, but am sure someone will enlighten me.

Dodgy Geezer, after ClimateGate the Global Warming Establishment at UEA hired Neil Wallis, former journalist to help them. He must be a very helpful chap, as he has spent a bit of time over recent years helping the police, with their enquiries, over issues involving newspapers, hacking, etc.
It was concluded that global warming had a communications problem, hence recent papers by Oreskes, Lewandowsky, and Cook, all noted communicators rather than scientists, that have illuminated climate science, so everyone can see there is nothing there.
Peter Gleick got very creative with pretend communications, that he claimed to exist, some of which may have come from his imaginary friends. Unfortunately none of his imaginary friends, were prepared to come forward, possibly fearing shame and embarrassment.
All of this must have got Pachauri very frustrated, and the warming he had sensed, simply was not there. Sensitivity, may now be trapped behind error bars, when all he wanted was a rise like a Hockey Stick blade, and a decent download off his hard drive.

It would not be the first time that you embarrass yourself as well as those of us that considered that your comments might have had any credibility. Heartland Science Director Lehr was the executive director of the National Water Well Association (now the National Ground Water Association), until he was convicted of fraud..
In 1991 , he pleaded guilty to defrauding the Environmental Protection Agency of $101,000 by falsifying employee timesheets on his EPA contract while serving as NWWA's Executive Director.
Having been convicted, he and former NWWA Finance Director Keith Lelux were fined $25,000 and sentenced to six months in Federal prison, which they both served.

As ever Lehr's case is a bit complex
It all happened 24 years ago. He claims it was a small dumb decision to expedite fixing of a paperwork problem, which was then made catastrophic by bad plea bargaining, where instead of having lengthy court proceedings you plead guilty, but then find they didn't give you the low sentence they promised.
He said - "(in 1988) We finished the project in about 17 months, quite success- fully, and found that $29,000 in time had not been charged. I knew all the work had been done and the project could not have been completed significantly under budget".."so I requested that the NWWA controller ADJUST the accounting accordingly"

If Pachauri is convicted then I do not think he should be banned from blog commenting or his previous work just thrown in the dustbin, but the integrity of a system that protected him should be questioned.
BTW for the record I did check Vvussels claim
- I see a Sexual Offender Registry listing with 3 counts of "Attempt Sodomy" listed, one against a child.
- I see that the alarmists always point to a longer list of charges of accusations from a 2006 newspaper report, rather than coverage after the court case/s .
- As ever when someone makes a scientific claim it is the claim that should be tackled not the man. It's not safe to divide the world into the convicted and non convicted as many crimes don't come to light, and you don't know what past crimes are hiding behind an anonymous username.
..but an organisation like the IPCC failing to protect it's female & vulnerable employees and protecting cronies with a culture of 'circle the wagons' is a serious issue.

(I saw other people speculated a John Nash like mental illness, but for whatever reason the authorities/media decided to drop other charges & keep quiet after the trial except for the SO registry)
